Kyle Murray is one of the twin town’s most talented sportsmen. Not that you would know it, he doesn’t seek any accolades. He is very handy on both the Rugby League and Rugby Union fields where he can play any position in the backs, and he is no slouch in the touch football arena either, with a Grand Final win in A Grade, for Jackson’s Bakery this season.

It is the sports which require a little more finesse, however, where he is proving his worth. Often seen at the Harden Country Club hitting the white ball around, he is off 11. Not too bad at all.

Sunday saw Murray claim victory over Shane McKellar in the Bowling Clubs Minor Singles Championship.

Kyle and Shane.

Kyle and Shane were both in good form throughout the match. Shane led for most of the way before being overtaken by Kyle on the 26th end to lead 23/22. Shane regained lead on the 28th end 25/24 before Kyle picked up three shots to take over the lead 27/25. Shane narrowed the gap when he scored one shot to trail 26/27, over the next two ends Kyle finished strongly picking up the four shots he needed to win 31/26. A great exhibition of bowls from both bowlers.

Kyle said “It was good to win, I was trailing for most of it. I came back late to take the win. I handn’t played in a final since 2008 where I was runner up. A fair while between drinks.”
