Wally Leonow and Nic Nadycz were both honoured for their long service by the New South Wales Fire Brigade last week.

Wally received the Long Service and Good Conduct medal, awarded after serving ten years with the organisation.

Meanwhile, Nic Nadycz (pictured right) added to his long list of honours, receiving a clasp after serving over 36 years with the New South Wales Fire Brigade.

“Gerry Robinson did 42 years,” said Nic. “I still have a while to catch up.”

“While you’re fit and well, you may as well keep going.”

Nic has seen a lot of changes in the Fire Brigade in his 36 years of service. “Back when I started, you just went and put out house fires or grass fires with a hose. Nowadays there is a lot more technology involved, with cutting open cars, slicing off rings etc. There is a lot more to the job and a lot more training required.”
