The Harden Hawks face their first game of the season this Saturday at McLean Oval. The Hawks will face a strong Yass Magpies outfit, which demonstrated good form at the Yass 9s tournament a fortnight ago.

Harden Hawks coach Michael Quinn said that they are wary of their opposition. “They will be good. They have a couple of good players, and their coach is pretty handy as well,” said Quinn.

Quinn also said that preparations for the game have been going well. “I am pretty keen to see how we go,” he said, “I am confident we are going to go well.”

Quinn said that his team showed quite a bit of promise despite some setbacks at the Yass 9s.

Meanwhile, the Hawkettes shape up for their first game of their five team competition. “We’re all excited,” said Hawkette Kate Menz. The Hawkettes took out the Yass 9s tournament, placing them hot favourites to take out the competition.

“There’s no pressure,” said Menz. “We handle pressure well.”

The Hawkettes will kick off at McLean Oval at 2:00pm, followed by the Hawks at 3:00pm.
