Can Assist held its ‘Can Assist Breakfast’ for cancer patients, carers, and families last Saturday morning at the Murrumburrah High School. Around 80 people attended the event, and were serenaded by local musical talents.

Joe Kinsela and Keith Eatock of Young, and local singer Peter O’Connor, performed songs relating to the Anzacs, and were accompanied by Stuart Bruce. Talented young artist, Harry Cleverdon, who is only 12, also performed.

“Harry is a real natural,” said Can Assist Branch President, Monica O’Connor. “He plays the keyboard, guitar and ukulele, and he has this natural confidence.”

“We are extremely grateful to the musicians who performed at the event. It must have taken quite a bit of time when one takes into account rehearsals for the event and the event itself,” said Monica.

Can Assist provides care and assistance to those suffering from cancer in the region. In addition to visiting patients, they also help out with travel and medical expenses in any way they can.

“There are very few people who haven’t been touched by cancer in some way,” said Monica.

Anyone suffering from cancer who would like to receive assistance from Can Assist is encouraged to contact President Monica O’Connor on (02) 63 862 123, Murrumburrah-Harden District Hospital or Nicki Bolger.
