Former local Nic Heywood will take on one of his richest races when he rides on Tumbulgum in the $100,000.00 Wagga Town Plate. It will be the biggest moment in the apprentice jockey’s burgeoning career, having begun his apprenticeship only 2 years ago.

The 19 year old will have five rides on Thursday and six rides on Friday, taking on three-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey, Glenn Boss. But for Heywood, his most significant ride will be on Tumbulgum, who has won $220,000.00 in prize money. “[The Wagga Town Plate] is probably on par with the Country Championship heat.”

The Wagga Town Plate forms part of the overall Wagga Gold Cup Carnival, which will also feature Yet Tobe Convinced, from the Scott Spackman stable.
