Petrol Prices in Harden Set to Skyrocket to $3/Litre Record High

There will soon be a new player in the Harden-Murrumburrah fuel market, with a new ‘deluxe’ service station expected to be installed in Murrumburrah as part of the Murrimboola Precinct Plan.

But the new service station, expected to be run and owned by Amcol, won’t come cheap, with the premium service station anticipating a $3 per litre starting price for unleaded 91 and 95, diesel and E10.

The $3 per litre fuel mark would mean a statewide all-time record high price.

The new service station is due to be opened in November, but construction work on the site will start today April 1.

Harden-Murrumburrah’s third service station will provide petrol, two fast-food franchises, as well as a premium car wash and detailing service.

The service station will feature Harden-Murrumburrah’s first ever commercial fast-food restaurants, a substantial coup for a town of its size.

A vacant lot at the service centre is still up for bids, with developers (still to be confirmed) earmarking a café to be built in the slot.

The service station is reportedly likened to the Yass Service Centre just 60 kilometres away, which features eating options and a service station as well.

Harden-Murrumburrah locals have so far had mixed opinions on the new development, with some in favour, while others are baulking at the idea.

“It will provide a great range of fuel and eateries in town. I’m really looking forward to the service station being built,” Bill Brumby said.

While some locals have picked out the apparent flaws in the development.

“The new service centre will do nothing but be an eyesore on our beautiful little town, all whilst hiking up fuel prices to astronomical levels,” Karen Carrington said.

More to come.
