Harden Holds Strong Through Round 2 of Scott Fuller Shield. Jamie and Mark Parker topped the scores for Harden with 50 points on Sunday.
This weekend past saw Harden host Round 2 of the Summer Inter District Competition known as the Scott Fuller Shield. Some 92 players from Harden, Cootamundra and Temora all hit the links in a Mixed Medley 4 Ball Stableford format, with Team averages all figuring towards the progressive pointscore after the 3 home and away rounds are completed.
All three Clubs fielded big teams with the large overall course attendance, Harden throwing an amazing 18 pairs on Course even after two late team cancellations. Cootamundra fielded 14 pairs and Temora did as well, which augered well for the 2 travelling teams who pick up travel points for getting above their field size quota.
Some big scoring occurred on course with some summer run on offer, however the greens played true and the fluffy manicured surrounds were the only means of the course fighting back against the off-green putters. The results as they played out are as follows;

Ron Page Quiet Achiever on Saturday
A keen field showed for their Saturday Summer
Stableford and serious on-course practise round for Sunday’s Scott Fuller Shield. With a good measure of the field playing better than their handicap despite not wanting to do too much damage before the Teams Event, one Ronald Ian Page jumped out to claim the days event.
Ronnie put a quiet front 9 together but came home with a wet sale to record 41 points, or 5 better than his handicap, to win the day. Ron led by example just poking it up the middle consistently and cleaning up like Sadie around the greens.
Balls went back to 37 on a countback and were awarded to Kevin Hoppe (40), Darrell Cassidy (39), Tam Kennedy (37) and Ron Kerr (37). Tam Kennedy missed the Bendigo Bank Hole in One but dropped one into just over 2 meters to claim the ball, before holing a nice birdie.
Waltzing Agronomist Wins Midweek
He has been loitering at the podium and this week claimed the lollies emphatically. Jim Wright has belted out a very impressive 34 stableford points around the Midweek 12 hole and 24 point par layout. Such a kind man, Jim has donated a massive 10 shots of his handicap to the wind and will resume battle this week on only 14 as his new deduction factor.
In second place and a fair whack back at 30 points but a tidy round 6 better than his handicap was Bob Martin on 30 stableford points. Keep these scores up Bob and next week is yours. Third place this week went to Marj Manwaring on 28 points.
The random mystery ball was awarded to L
Millerlock.
