On Tuesday, while plenty of people were out having a punt and a feed at Flemington watch ing the horses race, Flexible Care Harden were with them in spirit from the Harden District Bowling Club as part of The Hub’s Tuesday meetings which held a Melbourne Cup bonanza which attracted around 80 people in total.

The Hub is a social gathering at Harden Flexi- care that happens every Tuesday, allowing the eligible participants to engage in a bit of fun, games and a chat with friends. It runs all year around with a new theme every week. Angla Leitner, Hub Coordinator (who also won best dressed lady) said The Hub participants enjoyed watching the race that stops the nation at the Bowlo.

“It was really good. We had around 17 from our Hub social support clients go, who were all really excited. The Bowling Club put on a big show. Unfortunately, no big winners but a few sweet winnings,” she said.

“Everyone had a great time. This is our first time at the Bowling Club, last year we went to the Country Club. This year as a group they decided to go to the Bowling Club. They previously had a Halloween event which Angla said went surprisingly well.

“I was surprised by how into it everyone got. Everyone participated. We had best dressed competitions and a few different activities. We had a Halloween quiz with prizes and we had some word puzzles. Always plenty to do at The Hub on a Tuesday.

“We have a lunch outing once a month. They choose as a group; we brainstorm some ideas. One of our social support clients wanted to go to Murringo Cemetery so we went to Boorowa for lunch, then to Murringo and stopped at Young for ice-cream.”

With the Harden Show coming up, The Hub is encouraging its participants to enter into the Show since many have skills including cooking and quilting.

“All eligible clients are welcome to attend our hub, if they’re not signed up, they can call or see me and I can talk them through the process.”

The Hub only has a few more meetings this year before it goes on break from 12 December to January 16. Already the rest of the month is stacked with a Hub Show Pavilion entries theme next week, another visit to the Community Gar- den the week after (which proved to be really popular last visit in October) and Hub Bingo on
