The Harden Country Club is one of many businesses around Australia hugely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic at the moment and with the situation evolving rapidly the club is doing their best to serve the
community.
Pubs and clubs across the nation were closed on Monday, March 23 at 12pm after Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced a number of restrictions in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus. More business restrictions were announced Tuesday night, possibly more to come. However, the Harden Country Club has been maintaining what activity they are allowed to and will continue to do so for their customers. The club will continue to operate its kitchen and is now offering a delivery service, as well as takeaway. There are many different food options as well as alcoholic beverages available.
The Harden Country Club General Manager Christopher Longbottom says it’s important to keep Harden’s micro-economy alive wherever possible.
“It’s about changing our model to adapt to this new situation. We want to get the turnover to keep providing work for casuals, keep buying from the local butchers and shops and help keep this micro-economy working in town. We’re staying within the rules set by the government and following advice from health experts, although things are changing all the time. We’re going to keep doing the right things and support people.”
The Country Club courtesy bus is being utilised as a delivery van to
support its new service to the community, and the Mobi2Go app is its online ordering system.
“We’ve had Mobi2Go in place for a while but it has just been reconfigured so there’ll be pick-up and delivery. There’s no dine-in anymore and a new menu is set. Our operating hours will be 5pm to 8pm Thursday to
Monday,” Christopher said. Christopher added that he wasn’t surprised that pubs and clubs have been closed.
“I’d told our board to get ready to be shut down and let’s start thinking about how we can maintain some sort of
activity for us going forward, to keep supporting suppliers and provide work for our casuals”.
