Hilltops Council has resolved to award the tender for the provision of medical practitioner services at Kruger Health and Wellness Complex in Harden to Australian General Practitioners Pty Ltd.
Council will now execute a Licence for part of Kruger Health and Wellness Complex, 10 East Street, Harden for an initial term of one (1) year with optional extensions to a maximum period of ten (10) years.
Mayor Brian Ingram said “This is a very pleasing result with minimal disruption to services. I would like to commend Hilltops Council staff “
This will be subject to the agreement of a Service Plan within six (6) months of the commencement date and satisfactory performance of the Performance Plan and other requirements of the Licence.
Outgoing operators, Geetanjali, wished to say “Thankyou and good luck” to the Harden residents.
The new provider Dr Rahul Mehan is a Director or Medical Services at Australian General Practitioners LTD. Dr Mehan operates the Boorowa Hospital Medical Centre amongst a number of other centres across NSW.
It is currently unclear how the Kruger Medical Centre will be staffed by Doctors. Current nursing and administration staff are unsure if they will have a job at the practice when they turn up on Monday.
Councillor Stadtmiller said,“I am deeply unsatisfied with the the current doctors situation at Harden. I have been denied information that would enable me to make a decision on the matter and have been directed to source the information through the Government Information Public Access Act (GIPA). This is disgraceful. I believe that insufficient information was provided to me and as such I was unwilling to take part in the extraordinary meeting on Monday. Councillors must properly examine and consider all the information provided to them relating to matters that they are dealing with. I don’t believe I received enough information to do so. Council decisions can have a huge impact on the community. I take the role seriously.”
