The West Of The Divide Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of New South Wales Inc, formed in 2018 to represent the interests of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the regional areas of NSW, announced today that they will be holding their first 2 shows specifically for this breed in Harden, NSW on 22nd and 23rd June 2019 with an entry that is one of the largest in the country this year to date. More than 120 Staffords will be on show at the Harden Murrumbarrah Showgrounds each day of the 2-day event.

These shows are being held in conjunction with the Dogs NSW Southern Region All Breeds Dog Shows on the same dates, and these shows will draw up to 500 further dogs of other pure breeds.

Currently, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the second most popular pure-bred breed in the country based on 2018 registration statistics released by the Australian National Kennel Council earlier in the year. Popular with families and highly affectionate with children, this event represents an excellent opportunity for the public to interact with the dogs and their breeders in a regional location and learn more about the breed. The Show has attracted entries from right across the country, including some dogs and breeders travelling from Perth for the event.

Club President, Dr David Lowe, a 38-year veteran with this breed said “We are both humbled and excited by such a magnificent entry in Harden. When you consider this is close to the largest show for our breed in the entire country so far this year, the support we have received from breeders from far and wide has been fantastic.”

“We are particularly keen to see the public come and meet our dogs and exhibitors at these two shows. Sometimes maligned unfairly in some quarters, this breed of dog is the ultimate family pet and is only one of two pure breeds that expresses its suitability for children in its published Breed Standard, but the only way to really appreciate this is to come and meet the dogs. So, we will enthusiastically welcome public interest next weekend”.
