Jon Hill took part in the White Ribbon fundraiser at Robert’s Park on Sunday in warm conditions.

$410 dollars were raised on Sunday and 102.48 kilometres covered by men and women in the twin towns who took part in the White Ribbon fundraiser. A small army of people including some of Harden’s finest fitness fanatics, did laps of Robert’s Park with their own wheelbarrows. Taking turns the group including Glen Howe, Greg Stevenson, Jon Hill Scott Chesworth and Glen Stewart to name but a few, did their bit to help those who suffer from domestic violence. Some fun challenges were held throughout the afternoon, including a water relay and wheel barrow cricket.

Organiser Glen Stewart was happy with the result and wants it to be bigger and better next year. He said “We have to change attitudes before we can change actions. Domestic violence is a massive problem, particularly in Harden” Domestic Violence remains one of the most prevalent crimes in the Hilltops Council, having seen a 36.3% increase per annum, over the past 2 years. The rate sits at 578.5 per 100,000 population in Hilltops, compared to 370 per 100,000 for NSW as a whole. For the period January to June 2018, Hilltops recorded 58 total incidents of domestic violence-related assault, while there were 51 incidents in the six months prior, according to the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOSCAR).
