Bryce Fenney, Jack Innes, Mikey Fenney, James Collins, Emma Collins, Jasmin Scott, Samantha Scott and Molly Innes are all taking part in an exciting new theatre organisation.

Local ambulance officers Cathy Innes and Jo Fenney have teamed up to create the Harden Theatre Train, an initiative for young people in the Twin Towns. The initiative will serve as a place for young people in the region to learn all aspects of the theatre, including acting, dance and singing. Inspiration for the class came from Jo’s time in the United Kingdom, where her children regularly partook in theatre classes, only to return home to Harden where no such opportunities are available. So Cathy and Jo sat down over a cup of coffee and decided they would bring such an opportunity to the town, in the form of the Harden Theatre Train.

The group will consist of two classes, a junior one for Kindergarten to Year 6, and a senior one for Years 7 to 12. Sessions will be held each Wednesday all next school term, for two hours, with one hour spent on singing and another on acting. Cathy says a number of professionals, who have extensive experience in the entertainment industry have offered their expertise to the group.

All teachers have their working with children’s check, with the hope that they will be able to create a supportive, judgement-free environment, where students can express themselves creatively. Children and teenagers are all invited to attend, even those who are not fond of public performance, as there are other aspects of theatre, including sets and costumes, that they may find engaging.

Cathy and Jo also invite anyone with experience in the area, who would like to be a guest speaker or educator for the term. First classes start Wednesday, July 25, and will run for 10 weeks, at a cost of $100 per child.
