The coalition has adopted the Snowy Hydro policy that the Labor Party has been spruiking since May 2017. Labor leader Luke Foley said, “I’m glad the Berejiklian Government has decided to adopt Labor’s policy to use the Snowy Hydro funds for regional NSW, after they neglected them for over 6 years.   “The Premier now has to detail how and where these Snowy proceeds will be spent.  “After splurging billions on unnecessary Sydney stadium rebuilds and pet light rail projects, regional NSW will welcome some much-needed funding on schools, hospitals and infrastructure.” Mr Foley announced in May 2017 that a Foley-Labor Government would ensure that one hundred percent of the funds raised would be used in regional NSW on education, health and infrastructure such as roads.

It is now up to Ms Berejiklian to spell out a clear and transparent timetable on how, when and where this $4.15 billion will be spent. Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said last week’s announcement that regional communities will receive $4.154 billion for infrastructure as part of the Snowy transaction was a huge win for the area. On Friday, March 2, Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Deputy Premier, John Barilaro and Treasurer Dominic Perrottet announced the Government had agreed to transfer its share of Snowy Hydro to the Commonwealth. Ms Cooke said this deal will see regional communities benefit from visionary infrastructure that will improve lives for generations to come. Ms Cooke said the Snowy transaction is the latest example of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government delivering for regional NSW. The NSW Government is investing a record $24.4 billion in infrastructure in rural and regional NSW over the next four years.
