The pennant trail match which had been lined up against Yass for last Saturday to give local pennant players some practice before the start of the pennant season in early March had to be cancelled because of extreme heat. On Australia Day, the Club will conduct a sports afternoon, commencing at 12.45. There will be bowls to start with, followed by darts and pool, entry fee is $10 per head, and there will be a sausage sizzle at the end of the day. The Club will open by 12 o’clock, names must be in by 12.15pm. Several of our bowlers are contesting the Coota Ex Services Maestro Singles major and minor grades. Tony Fisher was defeated by ‘Ginger’ O’Brian, 31/25, in his match last Friday night. Jake Fisher went one better than the old man, by defeating Wayne Watmore (CCC), 31/24. John Curtis, Tony Zervos and Cary Peters were set down to play last Tuesday night. Tomy Hawkins, Brian Gibson, Graham Murray and Terry Ricketts are listed to play on Thursday night, 1st Feb.
