Olivia Howe on the charge on Saturday.

Last year’s George Tooke Ladies League Tag Champions will be looking to book their spot in this year’s Grand Final.

If the Men’s side can win today, the ‘GF’ will be at McLean Oval and the ladies will be hoping for back to back Premierships.

The task won’t be an easy one for the Harden ladies as they take on the formidable Bungendore Tigerettes at 1:30pm today at Crookwell.

The maroon and whites could shock the Tigerettes today under the skilful coaching of Club President Jason Pollard.

Go Get Them Girls, Hawks Hawks Hawks!!!

Last Week’s match report

The Harden Hawkettes were confronted by a slick Boomanulla Raiderettes side on Saturday in very cold and windy conditions at McLean Oval. After seven minutes Claire Smith found a gap and sprinted 30 metres to the line. With Emma James’ conversion it was 6-0 to the Hawkettes. Jess Doolan was making life difficult for Boomanulla and threatened to break through a number of times in the match.

But it was Emma James who made the break with a kick to score and convert her own try for 12-0. Nevertheless, the Raiderettes recovered their composure to score with 8 minutes of the half remaining. They repeated this five minutes later but couldn’t convert and the girls went to the break with the Hawkettes leading by a less than comfortable 12-8 score line. Both sides had turned over possession in the swirling breeze and Boomanulla scored first in the second stanza after only four minutes. A touch judge’s report showed the player had crossed the goal line with only one tag and the try was disallowed.

With 16 minutes of the match remaining and hanging to a slender 12-8 lead, Emma James took the odds to it, broke through and scored in a handy position and converted for a ten point lead for Harden. As the game wound down, the Hawkettes applied more pressure and Maddy Douglas was next to make a break. With the score at 22-8, it was up to Emma James to get a four from four goals for the day but the attempt went wide. At full time the Hawkettes earned the right to face off with the Bungendore Tigerettes this week end, and a daunting task this will be. Kick-off is at 1:30pm at Crookwell.
