Supporters of Rugby League in the area don’t have to look too far back to remember the name, Ashley Dyball. Ashley has been living in Miles for the last 11 years and has continued to play his own brand of uncompromising football. A prodigously talented player in his junior years, Dyball had plenty of interest from the Canberra Raiders as a teenager. After playing Prop for Riverina as a sixteen year old he made his debut for the Harden Hawks First Grade side as a 17 year old in 2001. He played Fullback for the majority of his season, such was his tackling ability and his athleticism. Many spectators still remember a particular incident that same year where he hit an opposing player so hard in a match, that the opposition player did a complete sommersault in the air before laying prostrate on the ground. Such was Dyball’s timing.
Ashley was recently selected for the 4th time in his career to play for Outback Queensland. He said “I have made the squad a few times over the last few years but I had a year off whlist by partner Tiara was pregnant with our son Jackson.” Ashley’s style of play hasn’t changed much since he left Binalong and Harden to move north. He said “I still just try and run over the top of who is in front of me” He joked.
Congratulations Ashley on your selection.
