$391,000 FOR HARDEN MURRUMBURRAH’S TRINITY CATHOLIC PRIMARY

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced Trinity Catholic Primary School at Murrumburrah will receive funding under the Australian Government’s Capital Grants Programme.

“This is an exciting announcement for Harden Murrumburrah. Trinity Catholic Primary School has been awarded in principle Federal funding of $391,747 for capital works at the school and I am delighted to be able to share this news.”

Mr Taylor said the Capital Grants Programme provided financial support from the Australian Government to non-government primary and secondary schools to improve school infrastructure.

Principal of Trinity Catholic Primary School Mrs Marylou Gorham said the funding would allow the school to provide state of the art classrooms.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our school – and for Harden. It is about modernising the classroom, allowing teachers to embrace inquiry learning in innovative buildings in order to maximise student engagement where the teachers become the facilitators and the children the experts.

“New break out spaces and inquiry based learning will help to educate our children for the future, with this approach fully endorsed by the Australian curriculum.

“This announcement is testament to the bright future of Harden Murrumburrah, with an enormous amount of work from Harden Shire Council and the broader community going in to the town’s recent facelift. The school looks forward to stepping up and embracing 21st century learning,” Mrs Gorham said.

Mr Taylor said since the 1960s the Australian Government had been involved in providing capital funding to non-government schools, with an aim of assisting with the infrastructure needs of current and future students.
