Jackson and Maddison Douglass are excelling in their athletics careers, taking on the best teenagers in the country.

Murrumburrah High School students Jackson and Maddison Douglass continue to prove they are among the best teenage athletes in the country. The siblings have just returned from competition in the NSW All Schools State Carnival. The best teenage athletes from across private, catholic and state schools come together each year to compete  for state selection into the All Schools Nationals. Jackson entered the high jump on Thursday where he performed very strongly equalling his personal best of 165cm. He then attempted a new height, a massive 170cm. His performance put him in 8th place in a great field of state champions.    Saturday saw Jackson back in action for the 100m sprint. He came up against a red hot field and ran a competitive race, setting a new personal best. Unfortunately he was outisde the winners time of 11.7 seconds.

Maddison competed in the triple jump and high jump on Saturday. Maddie’s first event, the triple jump put her against competitors who are state and national champions. Maddie finished in 8th place with a great jump of 9.85 metres. She backed up in the high jump where she cleared 150cm before attempting 155cm. Unfortunately she clipped the bar but managed 8th place. The Douglass duo of Jackson and Maddison officially start their athletics season next week where they hope to improve their performances. Maddison and Jackson are following in the footsteps of elder sister Jordan who herself is an accomplished athlete who competes in high jump and sprinting races.
