The NSW Ambulance station in Harden has been earmarked to be upgraded as part of the NSW Government’s Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration Program. The program was announced in the NSW Government budget on Tuesday, June 23, with the station amongst the first tranche to be upgraded along with Berry, Molong and Wagga Wagga. According to the description in the budget, the program will “deliver new ambulance stations in regional and rural NSW to enhance the delivery of ambulance services in country NSW. The program will support a reconfiguration of the delivery of ambulance services in rural NSW to better respond to demand.” $14,462,000.00 has been set aside for the 2015/2016 Financial Year for ambulance station upgrades, which is set to have a total cost of $122 million. The Reconfiguration program is due to begin in 2015 and finish in 2025, with planning for further works on other stations to take place. A total of $300 million is also set aside for the Regional Multipurpose Services (MPS) program to upgrade regional hospitals. In the 2015/2016 Financial Year, $78,896,000 will be spent to on hospitals in Barham, Bonalbo, Molong and Walgett. Work on MPS redevelopment is currently underway at Gulgong, Hillston, and Peak Hill. A timeframe for Murrumburrah-Harden District Hospital’s MPS upgrade is yet to be identified.
