The Binalong Public School P&C hosted an art fundraiser “So You Think You Can Create” last Saturday night at the Binalong Motor Museum, raising money for the school’s Art & Music program.

Many art enthusiasts from the local area, and as far as Canberra, were spoilt by the large variety of art on display which included many paintings, sculptures made form recycled materials, photography, wood work, glass work and home wares. Guests were entertained by local musicians and treated to delicious canapés. Auctioneer for the evening was Sean Trenoweth from Canberra.

38 pieces of art were auctioned, with Janet Boddy’s “Study of Trees“ taking top bid of $900. Another 18 items were up for silent auction, dinner & drinks at the Golden Fleece fetched a whopping $1600. The school children each created a piece of art for the night and most of the artworks auctioned where created by locals, showing just how much artistic talent there is in such a small community.

The Binalong Public School P&C would like to thank everyone who donated and created items for the fundraiser.

“We raised above and beyond our expectations for the night. With everyone’s very generous contributions we are able to fully fund the school children’s trip to the musical ‘Matilda’ in December and also put a large amount to the Arts & Music Program at the school,” said P&C President Madaline Brayshaw.

“We again would like to thank Binalong & surrounding community, our great little school will benefit more than you can imagine from your donations, and without the hard work put in by the P&C it would not have happened, well done and what a great night it was.”
