A 32 year Harden man produced a knife during his arrest after an earlier incident where it is alleged he stole over $100 worth of products from Harden IGA.

It is alleged the man left the Harden store shortly after 12pm on Saturday April 18th without paying for items he had taken. When confronted by staff, the man produced a knife and threatened the employee, causing the employee to retreat and contact police. Police arrived to find the man in the vicinity with the stolen goods.

When Police confronted the man, he again produced the knife. Officers were able to diffuse the situation and the man was taken in to custody without injury or further incident. The man was later charged with ‘Stealing from Retail Store’, ‘Custody of knife in public place’ and ‘Use offensive weapon to avoid apprehension’.
