Mellissa Ings capped off months of training on the weekend when she completed the 200 kilometre Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Ride.
Mellissa said “It was an amazing two days and there were so many inspirational stories behind why they ride.”
Mellissa has registered to ride again next year with her sister Wendy Ainsworth.
“Dr Chris O’Brien was the doctor that took out Wendy’s melanoma when she was 18 and it will be awesome to ride with her.
The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse has raised over $3.6 million in this years ride which brings the three year tally to almost $13.4 million.
In 2013 alone the Ride funded much needed equipment for the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse treatment centre including: 37 state of the art chemotherapy chairs; 105 beds for the inpatient rooms; 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds; 186 infusion pumps for giving chemotherapy, 58 diagnostic sets for monitoring patients vital signs, and; 22 wheel chairs.
