2014 marks 60 years of Polocrosse in the Harden Shire.

The Carnival was to be initially held on the 28th and 29th of June, but was postponed due to the low number of teams entered and the dubious weather forecast.

Harden Polocrosse will have its 60th Carnival this weekend on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August, at the Harden Race Course. It will be a great weekend of Polocrosse.

The club have had a long season commencing in March with the team penning and first carnival in April, travelling to Lake George, then Albury, Wagga, Tumbarumba, Jugiong and Young.

With most of the top players returning from the Nationals held in Darwin at the beginning of the month. The skills on show will be of a high standard.

The player ages range from 5 years up to men still playing in their late 70’s.

Our club has got some great up and coming junior members such as Molly Spackman, Jake Varena, Meg Perceval and Brooke and Lucy Hunter just to name a few.

The club has a rich history over the years, with Kevin Bradford, playing for most of the 60 years as well as Peter Beal Jnr. who started in the early ’70 in his early teens. Both Kevin and Peter Jnr. still play today.

The club has gone from strength to strength over the years with Chris Bunny President, Lynne Maurer Secretary and Trish O’Connor as Treasurer.

Polocrosse is a family sport with the Hunter family having 3 generations of players with Tiger (started playing in the ’60s) and his 3 sons Michael, Howard & Matthew and his 2 granddaughters Lucy & Brooke and his Nephew Andrew competing.
