Boorowa Showground was the venue for the Boorowa Rovers Round 7 clash in the George Tooke RL Shield Competition with the Harden Hawks.

Boorowa kicked off towards Cowra and found touch immediately when the ball took a leg break turn to the left, much to Harden’s amazement. From the scrum, after a kick through on the 6th tackle, Boorowa forced a drop-out from Harden under the posts. When the Hawks, eventually, gained possession, five-eighth Abed Atallah booted the football deep into enemy territory, from the following ruck Jon Hill opened the scoring for Harden with a fine try.

It wasn’t long before they were in again, when Daniel Drew touched down in a handy position, and the conversion made it Harden 10 Boorowa 0.

Soon after the Rovers put pressure on the Hawks and looked like scoring. But Harden winger Josh Quinn had other ideas, grabbing an intercept and raced 90 metres to post his first try. At 16 nil Quinny wasn’t satisfied and doubled up before you could say ‘Manly-Silvertails’, and the score had ballooned to 22-0.

Boorowa were finding the going very tough, but at times performed okay. The Hawks were having a field-day, running rampant with 2 more tries to Adam Byrne and Riley Manwaring respectively, before half time.

The writing was on the wall, and the second half was almost a carbon-copy of the first. Early tries to Hawk’s Andrew Jones and Alex Pirie, saw the 40-nil mark reached. Then out of the blue, the dark clouds rolled in, accompanied by a brightly coloured rainbow and Boorowa struck gold with a try in the corner, when the low trajectory kick was dived on in goal by their winger, giving them some heart and 6 points.

Abed Attalah was steering the Hawks around the paddock in his rightful position of Five-Eighth. Late in the match he made a good break and prior to being tackled delivered a great pass to Josh Quinn- try No 3 to Quinny.

Riley Manwaring repeated the dose with a good 40 metre break, this time it was the ever present Josh Quinn who accepted the final pass to stylishly stride over for his fourth try of the afternoon.

The Harden Hawks finished with 58 points to Boorowa Rovers 6. Stand-outs for Harden were also: Keiran Reid, Adam Byrne and Jon Hill. We travel on SUNDAY to Crookwell to combat their Green Devils at 3.00 PM.

WINGS.
