The Harden Hawks are coming off the back of a bye in the George Tooke Shield, a stop start to the season, but one that can help with the niggling injuries this time of year.
They shared the bye with the Rovers, Crookwell and the struggling Goannas.
Nick Hall answered the phone in his normal humorous way and went straight to talking about the sport he loves.
“This week we’ve got North Canberra Bears and it will be a tough one.
“They went pretty close at Harden against us. It will be a tight one. I’m sure they were game planning one minute later. They knew what they wanted to do and we were there. So we will see how they go.
“We will probably be similar squad wise to what we have been the last few weeks. Still no Jacob, still no Riley, still no Tyson. Those guys are out long term.
“Riley hasn’t played since we played them last time. He got a whack in the shoulder and the neck, so he’s been out and won’t be back.”
“We will line up how we’ve lined up the last few weeks.”
“We’ve done a good job this year, so it’s not terminal for either side. A win doesn’t guarantee you anything either. It’s just a game where we want to play the right sort of footy. If we do that this weekend, I’ll be happy.
“It is pretty congested at the top of the table. We are one win clear of them and there’s a few gaps opening up to 3rd and 4th and 5th that are still pretty safe.”
The Hawkettes continue to hold on at the top with an excellent for and against of 397 – 56 translating to an average win of nearly 40 – 5.6.
There attacking prowess is more than 100 points better than this week’s opponents the Canberra Bears and with 10 played, 9 wins a draw and a bye they are primed for the finals.
Georgia Smith has scored 20 tries thus far and is followed by sister Clare on 11 in 5th place.
