The Harden Red Devils are back in the winner’s circle after accounting for a determined Condo outfit, not known for their travelling abilities to the east.
Coach Jack Alcorn said, “We had a good win over Condo, 46 to 12. It was our last home game of the season.
Condo had a fairly good squad there. I Think they travelled with 19. It was a very solid squad.”
“Their defensive line was rock solid up through the middle. We didn’t make a heap of metres up through the middle, but we were able to get around the outside, which was good.?
The Devils are playing their free-flowing rugby, passing it around and using their skill set and agility to score points. It’s a mixture of going to the forwards and then spinning it out the backs. Reminiscent of the glory days of the Wallabies before international rugby became a penalty shootout.
Alcorn said, “It was a big game for a lot of people. Everyone sort of had their heads turned on fairly well after having a loss last week, we really needed to get back on the horse, and we certainly did that.
“The halftime score was 19 to 5, so we were up a little bit and then had to come out and go on with it.”
“We have got Coota next at Bassingthwaighte Park.”
Coota are good rivals for Harden over a lot of years and are on the up after defeating last year’s premiers Boorowa at home last week.
“They have really brought it together in the last few weeks, and they are a team that are not to be taken lightly. They never are, especially when they are in Coota. We will just look to keep playing our game and just make sure that our defensive efforts are where they need to be because we know that once they get a few offloads they can be very hard to stop.
“We will just make sure that our defensive efforts are up to where they need to be and go from there.”
