‘Al’s Corner Store’ will soon have work commence on the awning attached to the building.
Pedestrians will be pleased with the recent announcement that work will commence on fixing the ‘Al’s Corner Store’ awning next week.
The awning was fenced off over a month ago after it became clear that there were issues with its structural integrity. The closure meant that pedestrians had to cross to the other side of the road as access was prevented with a temporary fence.
The appropriate approvals to rectify the awning have been sought from Hilltops Council during this time, with work to commence in the coming days.
Owner Nicole Jackson said “We would like to thank everyone for their patience over the last few weeks. We have been working hard to make sure that we got the approvals through from the Council so that we could start work fixing the awning. We didn’t want a member of the public to be injured and we had to close it off and work on how we would fix the awning. When finished it will make that part of Neill Street look very good.”
Refurbishments will also continue inside the building as the iconic structure continues to take shape.
