Clare and Georgia Smith embrace Emma James after a try against Albury.

2016 George Tooke Premiers, the Harden Hawkettes have let their opposition know that they will be a force to be reckoned with in 2017.

The high flying Hawkettes took part in the Young knockout over the weekend and played some excellent League Tag to impress rivals, fans and supporters.

The Harden ladies started their day with a match against the much fancied Nowra side where Harden ran out winners 12-6.

In the 2nd match they took on the mountain ladies of Tumbarumba winning a hard fought match 6-0.

The 3rd match was always going to be a hard one with Harden coming up against 2016 Group 9 Runners Up Albury.

A draw was the final result which left the Hawkettes placed 3rd on the ladder at the end of the round robin competition.

A few quiet drinks and a much needed rest occurred later that evening before the Hawkettes surfaced for the 2nd day of competition and the knockout stages.

The day started with a grudge match against old Harden Hawk Group 9 opposition side, the Young Cherrypickers. The Cherryettes as they are known were lucky not to have a larger scoreline posted against them, with several Hawkettes tries disallowed.

The Harden side dominated the game in both possession and defence and ran out winners 6-0.

Harden got the better of Albury on the second day and reversed the 6-6  draw in to a 6-0 win, placing them in the Grand Final against Campbelltown who were undefeated.

The city side proved too strong in the final match, however the Hawkettes and the entire club are very proud of the ladies achievements. President Jason Pollard said “They didn’t stop trying all day, and to make it to the Grand Final is a great start to the season.”

The Hawkettes will have another trial match on March 18 against Grenfell.
