Two vehicles collided near the Stop sign at the bottom of the hill near the off ramp from the Hume Highway near Jugiong on Sunday.

 

Harden Fire and Rescue were kept busy over the weekend. After attending the fires in Harden on Friday they were then called to a 2 car motor vehicle accident MVA at Jugiong on Sunday afternoon. It is alleged that one of the vehicles failed to giveway to traffic and proceeded through the Stop sign at the bottom of the off ramp near the northern entrance to town.

The luxury vehicles involved in the accident were a Mercedes Benz and an Audi. 2 women in the Mercedes Benz were trapped and had to be cut out of the wreckage. They sufferred from head and suspected spinal injuries and were conveyed to Canberra Hospital. A man in the back of the car was uninjured. 2 occupants of the Audi were conveyed to Harden Hospital.

Emergency services from Harden, Gundagai, Cootamundra and Jugiong attended the scene. The accident is a timely reminder that vehicles exiting the highway off ramp can often be travelling at speed. Although there is a Stop sign at the intersection witnesses have stated that it is partially obscured by foliage.
