Member for Cootamundra Katrina Hodgkinson has announced four projects to receive a share in $294,835 funding under the latest round of the NSW Government’s Heritage Near Me Activation Grants Program.
Projects to receive funding in the electorate include: – $87,605 for a masterplan, minor safety works and a new interpretative display at the Old Gundagai Gaol, with funding to go to the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council; – $100,000 for the reconstruction of the Jugiong Cobb and Co Stables, with funding awarded to the Trustee for the Wodalla Trust; – $53,730 for the revitalisation of the entrance to the Cowra Locomotive Depot, with funding awarded to the Lachlan Valley Railway Society Co-operative Limited; and – $53,500 for an interpretative walk at the Temora Railway Precinct (Pardey’s Flour Mill and Former Locomotive Depot and Roundhouse), with funding awarded to Temora Shire Council.
Katrina said the grants are aimed at conserving and promoting items with local government heritage significance for the benefit of future generations. “I’m delighted these important heritage sites in the Cootamundra electorate have been successful in gaining funding under this program, which will help to bring a new lease of life to these sites,” “It’s important that we continue to look at ways to renew interest in these local institutions as well so I am very interested in what these four projects have in store for us as a result of this funding.”
