A fire was sparked this afternoon on the northern side of Moppity Road in the Hilltops Shire

The blaze was situated 20 kilometres north of Harden, 20 kilometres east of Young and 30 kilometres west of the township of Boorowa.

It only took the helicopter a matter of seconds to fill its large orange water container from nearby dams.

It quickly spread to the east with the assistance of westerly winds, burning through over 150 hectares of farm land and scrub within the ‘Black Range’ range.

The fire came within several kilometres of the Watershed agistment property. The property is not under threat.

RFS crew were on the scene quickly and were assisted by air support which continued to drop its water load on the fire.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 4pm this afternoon, however, crews will stay through the night to make sure trees and burnt logs do not re-start the fire as the mopping up process continues.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
