Local woman, Sam Longmore is showing her ingenuity with her homemade woollen knit ware, created using a unique technique. Using her elbow and a pole, Sam is able to create a multitude of products, ranging from blankets to scarfs. Sam was left a hemiplegic (paralysed down one side of the body) after a tragic set of circumstances in 2013. She was returning to her home in Binalong, after working for three days at her nightclub job, when she fell asleep at the wheel. Her car smashed into a guard rail, veering across the road and flipping on its roof. The ambulance she was travelling in would then crash on it’s journey to Canberra, leaving her partially paralysed. The unique creations of Sam’s are created using wool sourced from Wangaratta, although Sam would like to one day use wool from her and her partner’s farm. She finds the creative process relaxing, and uses the experience of creating her own business as a way to allow her to recover from her injuries. Sam’s products can be viewed on her business’ Facebook page, ‘Ohbulldust.’
