Don Jamieson, Joy Howell and Clare Findlay with Dorothy Smith.

Co ordinator Dorothy Smoth was thrilled with the wonderful response to the Mental Health seminar hosted by the Anglican parish of Murrumburrah Harden. Guest speaker Joy Howell spoke about keeping our brains healthy, by exercising, reading, getting enough rest, not abusing alcohol, socialising and having a good diet. Don Jamieson spoke about the stigma surrounding mental health, how common it now is to have a mental health incident somewhere in you life and how conditions such as depression can play a lifetime role for some people. Don said, “We need to reach out to people and lend support. Encourage them to seek help and not judge them.” Keren Walker conducts Thai Chi for better health and also has a program for those with mental health issues. Exercise is just so important and wonderful for mental health. Clare Findlay from ACAT brought the group up to date on assessment issues. The Anglican ladies catered for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
