Cootamundra Saleyards and Associated Agents conducted there fortnightly sale last Wednesday and yards 6215 , which was a decrease of approximately 2000 from the previous sale.

With numbers back the quality improved , especially with the arrival of new season lambs, and also some very good runs of old trade lambs.

The market was made up of 3722 Lambs ,862 Ewes, 761 Suckers, 676 Wethers163 Hoggets, & 30 old sheep.

With one of the biggest field of buyers seen at Cootamundra for a long time, prices were quoted as generally firm right across the board, for the entire yarding, with very little restocked activity, processors were keen to fill orders.

Top price for old lambs was once again Noel Corby from Stockinbingal with a small pen of XB lambs that made $175.00. With a $4.00 skin and weighing 28 KG they came back at $ 6.10 / KG CW. These lambs were purchased by Fletchers International.

John Holihan of Wallenbean supplied the top pen of new season lambs that made $169.60. With an estimated 25 KG CW and carrying a $ 7.00 coat , they came back at $6.50 / KG CW and were snapped up by Woolworths.

Most new season suckers were in the $ 6.50 to $ 6.90 / KG CW and were keenly sought after. Old trade lambs ranged from $6.10 to $ 6.30 / KG CW , which is on par with other regional Saleyards.

Mutton numbers fell and quality was generally plain. Most prices were once again firm on the previous sale, with medium framed merinos ewes making between $92 fo $ 101.00 with heavy XB ewes , making up to $120.00, with most in the $3.70 to $ 4.00 / KG CW.
