The 36th Annual Harden Picnic Races will be held on the 22nd October 2016. Just over 3 months away and again coinciding with the running of the Cox Plate, it is definitely a date to put in your little black book. Local and interstate bookmakers will be in attendance along with TAB facilities. Screens will be available to watch the Cox Plate. President Nathan Schofield said that the track had been reseeded in May and that with all the rain it was now looking good. Nathan said that this month’s meeting was focussing on ways to make the picnics more family oriented. “The alcohol would change to mid strength beer in line with other race meetings in the district. We are given this date each year by Racing NSW and so far it has been good, even though we had a slight scare last year with track conditions.
The Harden Picnics is about friends getting together, family reunions, special birthdays, hens and bucks parties are often the order of the day.” Marquees may be hired from the club. A certified RSA person must be in attendance. Booking forms are available from the club by contacting www.hardenpicnics.org.au or by contacting Nathan Schofield on 0400355 142 or Rebecca Askell on 0404673749 Fashions on the field will again be held so the ladies can start hunting out that outfit and fascinator. Of course we can’t forget the gents. Great prizes are to be had. Sponsorship is being sought and packages are available. Free entry tickets and drink coupons accompany sponsorship deals. Nathan said that the club is hoping that Sibelco and Redbank North will be involved in the Cup race again this year. Nathan, Ashley Hall, Jack Whybrow, Charlie Dyball with Rebecca Askell, Secretary and Judy Stewart, Treasurer make up the committee.
