The Devils will put three weeks of stop and start behind them when they take each other on in a 10 a side format at Roberts Park on Saturday at 3pm. The Milton club phoned through a forfeit at about 6:45pm Thursday night leaving the Devils with no game for the weekend.

The local side received a forfeit from Broulee on June 16 at Robert’s Park before Harden lent the Dolphins 5 players, so that some sort of match could get underway.

The Harden lads had a bye last week and were hoping that Milton would come up the hill this week after Harden took a full contingent to the coast in round 4, however injuries and travel have prevented Milton from attending on Saturday.

Harden will definitely need the run in the 10s format on Saturday before they trek up the hill to take on Jindabyne, next Saturday July 9.

The stop and start fashion of the South Coast Monaro competition again brings to the fore the need for a smaller and geographically located competition.

Several clubs are in talks regarding forming their own competition which may include a single team from the following towns: Yass, Boorowa, Crookwell, Harden, Young Grenfell, Temora, Cootamundra, Junee and Tumut.

A competition with teams located more closely to each other and  lasting from 16 to 18 games would make many players happy who have work commitments on Saturdays and would benefit from a closer, more even and stronger competition.
