Residents of Harden Murrumburrah residents are getting superfast Internet that few in the city can access.
Since the installation of the new ‘line of sight’ wireless towers around Harden and Murrumburrah, residents have been able to gain the superfast Internet speeds few in Australia – let alone rural areas can access.
Thanks to the wireless internet installation set up by South Western Wireless Communications Company (SWWCC) customers can access Internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps compared to the 20 Mbps offered by the major providers.
“We invite locals in the Harden Murrumburrah area to sign up and enjoy the benefits of fast, affordable internet,” said Geoff Peach, Director of SWWCC
“We look forward to providing more locals with fast downloads and uploads, uninterrupted movie streaming, and the chance to explore what the Internet has to offer both for their businesses and their entertainment,” said Geoff.
SWWC customer, Jamie Brown of Rosevale, 14 km from Harden, is looking forward to the chance to explore what superfast will mean to his mixed farming business and his family.
“We used to only get 15GB per month, after which time it went to slow dial-up speeds. On cloudy and rainy days, we would not be able to get the internet at all! Although we’ve only been connected for a few weeks, my wife has already discovered the difference. When she used to upload her photobooks it used to take overnight and that’s if the internet stayed connected! Now it takes just a few minutes,” Jamie said.
“When I investigated how I could improve on my Telstra service, I looked into the NBN. But as I was in a ‘blackspot’ area, all I could get was their satellite service which was not a very fast speed and would only give me 75 GB per month at slower speeds.
“To be honest, I’ve been too busy farming to really explore what’s possible, although I have downloaded Netflix and have watched a few movies,” Jamie said.
“But I’m looking forward to discovering what superfast Internet access will mean to our farming business. I’ve heard there are some amazing apps that you can use to get advice in almost real time.
“I’d never really looked into it because there was no point getting your hopes up when you know you couldn’t achieve the necessary Internet speeds. Being used to having only 15GB you get used to being so restricted you don’t even think about it. But all that has changed with SWWC.
“Plus, my son works in insurance in Sydney and now has the flexibility to work when he visits us on the farm. He can work without any connection restrictions. That means he can visit for longer, and that’s great for the whole family,” Jamie said.
“I wish I had hooked up to it earlier,” Jamie says.
