Good Friday will be the beginning of a four-day weekend for many employees and employers alike, with many of them either staying home or taking off for some rest and recreation. For parishioners of Harden’s three main Christian denominations, Good Friday marks the beginning of an intense period of reflection. At 9:30am on Good Friday, when some people are towing their ski and fishing boats to their favourite spots, Anglicans, Catholics and Uniting Church parishioners will be hauling something else up the hill from Murrumburrah. The Witness Walk will begin at 9:30am at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Murrumburrah, with parishioners of the three denominations taking it in turns to carry a large wooden cross from St Paul’s to the Ross Memorial Uniting Church and on to St Anthony’s Catholic Church. The walk is a re-enactment of that Jesus took with the Cross along the Via Dolorosa to be crucified. The parishioners will then enjoy a morning tea of hot cross buns at Newson Park after their hard work. How ever you are marking this long weekend, the staff at the Twin Town Times wish each and every one of you, a safe and Happy Easter.
