Harden’s own Clean Up Australia campaign is undertaken almost every day, by Tony Brown as he goes for his regular walks throughout Harden-Murrumburrah.
After the passing of his wife, Julie, 5 years ago, after 46 years of marriage, Tony was encouraged to exercise and he thought he could tidy the streets and lanes as he did so.
Tony was the reluctant recipient of the Australia Day 2012 Towncare Award (it taking him 18 months to collect his Award).
Tony says he doesn’t do his picking-up of rubbish for reward, but that he does it because he wants to, and for God. He encourages Harden-Murrumburrah residents to become involved in the Clean Up Australia Day, on Sunday, 2 March 2014. Information can be obtained from Lorraine Brown at the West End Gift Shop.
