Filmer and Steinke Star in Xmas Golf

Well the fat man has come and gone and we are here in 2016.  Whilst most were drinking beer and relaxing, the hardened Harden Golf warriors were out on the course plying ther trade at the sport we love and sometimes love to hate.

On Sunday 27 December 2015, a strong field turned up to walk off the effects of a little break.  The weather was hot but so too was the scoring.  Craig Filmer and Darrell Cassidy  turned on a show with efforts 7 better than their handicaps at 43 stableford points.  For Darrell this meant a 74 off the stick and for Craig a turnaround in form saw him shoot a 76, only 3 and 5 over off the stick respectively.  Craig snuck home in a countback to claim the lion’s share of the goodies on offer with 1 better around the back nine on nett.

It was a tough school and balls only went to 39 stableford points or 3 better than their handicaps.  John Brownhill posted a hot little round at 40 points, Peter Steinke shot 39 points as too did Ron Page.  Darrell Cassidy rocketed one in to only 6 foot in the old yardage on the Bendigo Bank Whopper Account Hole in One 10th.  The putt we believe was made for a nice little birdie.

On Saturday 2 January 2016 the year’s first Monthly Medal was played and won for a Club Trophy.  The hot round of the day in claiming the A Grade Medal, the Guzzlers Mug and the goodies went to Peter Steinke with a 77 – 12 = 65 nett.  The B Grade Medal and only 1 shot back on nett was the big game performer in Robert Bates on 66 nett.  Bit early in the year to be baaaaaccckkkk, but watch this space as Robert has set his goal to get back to single figures handicap in 2016.

Scratch score winners with some very nice rounds went to Kevin Hoppe in A Grade and also to Robert in B Grade with a handsome 83.  Balls went back to 2 under the handicaps and were presented to Kevin Hoppe (67), Maurice Manwaring (68), Brian Tredinnick (69), and Matt Schofield (69).  Mel Brownhill has struck again with an absolute cracker of a shot on the  Bendigo Bank Whopper Account Hole in One 10th in to 2.1 metres or a mere 7 foot.

This Week

Saturday sees the Summer Stableford Scorchers Championships continue and with a mild day planned by the Bureau of Meteorology, tee off is from Midday.  Boys and Girls are welcome …..  Mel has got the memo.
