This week’s Local Legend is no longer with us, however, she touched many lives and even helped deliver many of us!
……Her commitment to nursing was stuff of legend. She loved her mothers and babies and only allowed Marie Byrne into the labour ward and sometimes the doctors. She called the doctors Khalfan and Datoo “the boys”. Her strength and depth of affection for them and their families was renowned. She was well known for hiding in a cupboard when it was time for rounds, she would then leap out and scream Boo at them. Then later they would all be heard laughing in the tea room whilst smoke billowed forth. (It was before smoke free zones)…….
