The National Australia Bank will operate under reduced hours starting in December.

The Harden Branch of the National Australia Bank (NAB) will be reducing its operating hours from November 30, with the bank only being open three days per week. The branch will be open on Monday & Thursday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (closing for lunch between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm), and Friday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm (closing for lunch between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm). It will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. According to the NAB, the reduction is the result of evolving banking habits.

“The way customers access and use their money is changing and NAB is adapting to reflect this,” said Nick Meseldzija from NAB Corporate Affairs. “For example, more customers are using NAB’s online and mobile services – to pay bills, check balances, run their businesses, transfer money to friends – and as a result fewer customers are using NAB branches to bank like they used to.”

The reduction in hours has not affected branches in Young and Cootamundra, which are still operating from Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 4.00pm, and Friday 9.30am-5.00pm. Although customers are increasingly using electronic means of banking, the reduced hours of the Harden NAB branch in conjunction with the bank’s lack of automatic teller machines (ATMs) in the town may cause some bank customers to ‘vote with their feet’.
