Katrina with Superintendent Peter Wanczura, members of the Cootamundra Local Area Command and Cootamundra Mayor Jim Slattery and Harden Deputy Mayor Neil Reid outside Cootamundra’s Uniting Church on Tuesday.

Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson has encouraged members of the public to show their appreciation for the NSW Police Force by joining Remembrance Day services to honour police who have lost their lives in the line of duty. “Today is the most significant day on the policing calendar where we pay tribute to the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their communities,” Katrina said. “I encourage everyone to show their support for the sacrifice police make by putting their lives on the line to protect others.

Since the NSW Police Force was formed more than 150 years ago, 252 officers have lost their lives while serving the people of NSW. Katrina said the day is important to pay tribute to those who have fallen in the line of duty. “I was honoured to attend the Cootamundra Local Area Command’s 2015 National Police Remembrance Day Service in Cootamundra today, and to pay my respect and take time to reflect on all that our police force does to keep us safe and project us.

“This is also a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by families and loved ones of the men and women of the NSW Police Force,” Katrina said. “Today we come together to show our support for those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty and to remember those who we have lost.”
