The following is an extract from the Where are they now feature in today’s Twin Town Times
Noel was at the Harden station preparing for the day’s work when two ladies in their senior years (70’s) walked in. He greeted them with a cheery ‘Good morning, children.’ They explained that they had driven over from Young to obtain a licence to drive. For the purpose of this exercise we will call them Thelma and Louise. Louise explained to Noel that Thelma had driven over from Young and that she hadn’t hit anything. Eyebrows were raised, Noel was quite apologetic and said that they did not do licences on Wednesday. The Sergeant who lived next door and was on a day off happened to walk through the office at that time. He said he would take Thelma for the test considering she had travelled over. The Sergeant suggested Noel make Louise a cup of tea. The Sergeant said to Thelma, ‘Now, you see that police car there, it only arrived yesterday and is brand new. Whatever you do, don’t hit it.’ As they went to take off, Thelma put the foot down…………
