Jill Berney, Mellissa Ings and Tyson Ings have their costumes ready to go for the Op Shop Ball to be held at The Harden Country Club on July 11.

If you want to have a good, fun and thrifty night out, the Op Shop Ball is only two weeks away. Tickets are still available for the Ball, which takes place on July 11 at the Harden Country Club. The aim of the night is to get people dress up in clothing bought at local charity shops such as St Vincent de Paul, Anglicare, and the Salvation Army. Ball attendees are urged to get their clothing from op shops, or to make donations to them. “We want to give the community a chance to have a night out with without the expense,” said Simon Watts. “The more hideous the better,” said Dallas Watts. “Get your dag on.” Tickets to the event are available at the Harden Country Club at $25 per head, or $200 for a table of ten. So far, the ball has sold 70 tickets, and there is still 270 tickets available. The band ‘Catch Phrase’ will be providing the entertainment, and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed couple and for the best dressed table. Games may also be on the cards for the night. “I want to see ladies in their seventies seeing their old bridesmaids’ dresses walking around!” said Dallas.
