“What a great success” said Jen Sheridan manager of the Harden Community Bank. “We are overwhelmed by the way the local community has embraced the shop local campaign. We calculated that nearly half a million dollars was spent locally in the town during the campaign in the last 7 weeks of 2014 leading up to Christmas. Our barrel was full of receipts from people spending their hard earned money locally.”
Winner Ros Stewart from Canberra said “It was amazing to get the phone call from Jen, I couldn’t believe it. We began spending money in town after working on Zac’s place in Murrumburrah in the middle of last year and have also been helped out by many local businesses to get the house ready.”
‘Zac’s place’ as it is known will provide Harden Murrumburrah with crisis accomodation for people who are in need. It is designed for people displaced for reasons such as flood or fire. Ros and husband Glenn devote a lot of their spare time and money assisting others in life and have also set up a similar project in Yass.
“We will become locals soon and the prize is a great way to make ourselves known and meet people before we move to Harden full time in 2015.”
The Community Bank and The Twin Town Times would like to congratulate all of the particpating businesses for their involvement.
