“The end of an era some say – beginning of a new one I say” Sue Chesworth, December 2014

On December 10 a local Murrumburrah icon closed its doors and the little shop ‘Quilters Stash’ was no more!

For over seven years patchwork lovers from the local and surrounding towns and districts and from far and wide, have flocked to Murrumburrah for their patchwork supplies. But that wasn’t all one got from Sue Chesworth’s little shop. Along with quality patchwork fabrics, fat quarters, lessons on how to patch, cut and pin, stitch-in-the-ditch, sew a peeper and indeed anything patchwork or sewing related – in the correct way – one also got a dose of friendship, a listening ear, a willing helper, with comfort and counselling when needed, sensible advice and a common sense approach to all things – patchwork or life in general!

The shop grew from humble beginnings and soon began to burst at the seams. After a few years, with the work of a handy carpenter and a lick of paint the lovely extended classroom and new kitchen area appeared, leaving the original shop full to brimming with everything a patch-worker’s heart desired.

The new classroom with fabulous cutting/pinning table was a great asset to all the students, from beginners to the more seasoned quilters and provided a great place to gather and share stories, laugh and forget about life’s troubles, while quilting the stress away.

Many friendships have grown and Sue and the Quilters Stash shop will be sadly missed, though thankfully Sue is sticking around and a new venture is in the pipeline. On behalf of all your quilting friends, clients and acquaintances, we thank you Sue for your wonderful friendship, advice and help over the last seven years and we truly wish you many blessings and a bright and fulfilling future in whatever patchwork endeavours you undertake.
