Jonah Potts’ Rugby League career is on the up after he took out the U16 Young Cherry Picker’s Best and Fairest and Player’s Player awards at their presentation night last week.

The talented lock has tasted his first year of senior Rugby League after playing for the Harden Hawks U15 side in the junior competition in 2013.

Jonah said he went to Young to play, as Harden doesn’t have an U16s side and thanked his dad Mark and Mum Kellie for taking him to training all year. “They have been great”, Jonah said.

Jonah won’t turn 16 until December, however the Year 10 Hennessy Catholic College student is looking forward to playing in the U18s next year.

Jonah capped off a memorable year when he was also named in the Young Cherry Picker’s Team of the Year, which is picked across all four grades.

“I was pretty stoked when I heard my name come out in the team of the year, there are a lot of good players at Young.” he said.

Jonah began his footballing career with the Harden Hawks and played with the local club from U10s-U15s. We are sure to hear more from Jonah next year.
