Frank Peniguel is attempting to establish a new Guinness World Record when he finishes up in January 2015, in his quest to play at as many bowling clubs as possible in a 12 month period.

His match with Duke Heywood meant that he has notched up his 485th match since commencing on January 10 this year.

Duke said “He’s a nice chap and I only just beat him 9-8.”

Frank said “I will be trying to play at as many as possible and establish and set a world record.”

He bought his Kombi Van and travels on a budget of $55 a day including fuel, food and camping ground fees.

“Like most of my ideas I have them in the shower, so I checked to see if there was a record for the most clubs played at in 12 months and there wasn’t. I would like to raise the profile of the sport which is still regarded as low profile. Out of the 485 clubs I have been to this year I have been told that 33 of them will be shut by the end of this year due to low bowling numbers and patronage. We need to get new players in to the sport”.

Frank has plastered his van with stickers collected from each bowling club he has visited and played at.

He said “This is my legacy to the game, which I am very passionate about. I have estimated that the total number of clubs played at could be from as few as 600, up to 900 should everything go well. It is quite a logistical challenge. I will continue to post my progress on my website at hittheroadjack.net.au with photos, as I cover all States of Australia, excepting Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The last venue on January 9th 2015, will probably be Daylesford in Victoria, where I now reside.”

Harden-Murrumburrah has now become a part of Frank’s record attempt. He continued on his way to Cootamundra after stopping here and will then travel south to the southern part of NSW.
